William L Penterman was born and raised in Wisconsin. He grew up on a small dairy farm where he worked countless hours helping grow crops, raise cattle, and milk cows all year from the hottest days of summer to the frigid days of Wisconsin winter. William’s passion for agriculture continues through his lifelong commitment to 4-H.
During college, William recognized the need for an organization that could bolster the conservative movement on campus and focus on the principles and ideology of the conservative movement. That’s why he founded Ripon College’s Young Americans for Freedom chapter in the fall of 2015. Today, the chapter remains more active than ever, putting on numerous events that inspire the ideals of conservatism.
In November of 2015, William answered the call to serve his country in the United States Army. He served in the Military Police Corps for 4 years, and continues to serve in the Army Reserve today.
In the spring of 2018, William presented his senior thesis, “Energy Independence in the United States” at the Pi Sigma Alpha Conference in Washington DC.
William is a proud member of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious honor society for the liberal arts and sciences. He is also a member of Phi Sigma Iota, the national foreign language honor society, and Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honor society. In 2018, he earned the “Award for Outstanding Accomplishment in Classical Studies” from the Classical Association of the Middle West & South.
William served as Legislative Assistant in the Wisconsin State Assembly before moving up to Research Assistant in 2020. During the Wisconsin election investigation following the 2020 Presidential election, William served as Committee Clerk for the Assembly Committee on Campaigns and Elections. As committee clerk, William facilitated the December 11th election investigation hearing at the Wisconsin State Capitol.
William’s unique experiences on his family’s dairy farm, in the United States Army, and as a proficient staffer at the Wisconsin State Capitol make him battle hardened, tested, and ready to get to work for you as your state representative in Madison.
